

Washington Convention Center, DC, October 7, 2008 – On Tuesday, Col. David J. Bishop, Director of the U.S. Army's Rapid Equipping Force (REF) spoke to attendees at the Annual Meeting of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) about current projects and programs implemented by the REF. The REF is charged with keeping soldiers alive on the battlefield and is tasked with finding the products and solutions to do so.
In his speech, which lasted over a half hour in total, he talked about the success of their program deploying Defenshield's Mobile Defensive Fighting Position (MDFP) in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The SAR-48 is a US made version of the Belgian made FN-FAL main battle rifle used by many European nations. It fires the 7.62 NATO (.308 Winchester). The 150 grain bullet is fired at 2820 FPS and generates 2648 Ft/lbs of force.
